Project REBIRTH #6: Gadgets

Now I've implemented another aspect to the player's arsenal with the gadgets system. Previously the player had their weapon (currently just a blade) and which mods they chose as combat rewards. Now I've added supported for a new usuable item with it's own dedicated button, which I'm just calling a gadget.

Currently as you can see in the above video the sole usable gadget is the explosive throwing knife (currently sans explosion), which can be thrown to launch enemies from a distance. In addition to giving the player a ranged option it can also easily be used in between attacks, allowing for more intricate combos. In the future this system can be expanded upon with various grenades, mines or even buff / debuff items.

The plan is also to limit their use with a defined capacity, which is another stat the player can modify based on their item choices.


Also a little thing you might have noticed is the items that drop out of the enemy when they are defeated. Just the beginnings of a currency collection system I'm implementing for the player to be able to purchase items in the future.
